Asociacion de Investigation de Industrias Carnicas del Principado de Asturias

ASINCAR is an Agrifood Technology Centre as well as a Business Cluster (Gold label of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative) formed by more than 85 companies (>95% SMEs) from the entire value chain. 

One of ASINCAR main activities covers research, development and innovation projects, with interests in: development of novel food products, food preservation technologies and enhancement of shelf life, packaging systems, biotechnology applied for food safety and quality, valorisation of agri-food by-products, Industry 4.0. and food technology in general.

In APRIL, its primary role consists in taking charge of the coordination of human ergonomics issues in work packaging use cases, setting the automation of the packaging of poultry pieces by using grip-and-place functionalities of the novel APRIL robotic system as well as the classification/distribution of the pieces by the estimated shelf life, and spreading the voice about the possibilities of robots/cobots with soft handling functions in the meat industry.
